I am thinking of buying a size or large truck or SUV as a second car, pros and cons?

I just bought a house and continue with my family tradition of woodworking (as a hobby), so I need a V8 truck or SUV to transport wood and other do it yourself the things. I'm debating between the American full-size pickups and SUVs (not going to drive this thing every day), and will be a couple of years (do not have a lot of money), but that you think is better and be more useful and practical, I'm tempted to get the Chevrolet Avalanche, but then I think of the Dodge Ram 1500, or could get the most use of a Ford Expedition, help me here, thanks.

Go with the truck. It will be easier to transporting yard waste, landscape and earth materials. It is also much easier to carry a 4X8 sheet of plywood.
