1987 Cadillac Allante expected to help rebuild his image
Cadillac tried to rebuild its image in 1987, aware that performance models imported from Europe and Japan were in one place, and with Honda launching its American luxury division, Acura. Some new design approaches were tried: the Seville, for example, fell to BMW 5 series proportions and had arches of the wheel with just a touch of chrome. During this period, the greatest challenge for import sports cars was the Cadillac Allante, a convertible designed by Pininfarina of Italy, built on what is touted as the world's longest-production line of car bodies manufactured in Italy and Boeing 747 flight to the United States to comply with their transfer and motor.

Chrysler Corporation was sold to Daimler-Benz AG in 1998 to form DaimlerChrysler. Streamline wide range of Chrysler was a priority, and sister brand Plymouth Dodge was recalled. With this movement, became the Dodge division of DaimlerChrysler low price and its performance division.

A better fit in the Chrysler Corporation lineup, alongside low-priced Plymouth and medium-priced DeSoto, Dodge line in early 1930 was cut to a core group of two lines and thirteen models (from three lines and models of nineteen little over a year). Prices DeSoto started out just above, but they were just under the top of the Chrysler line, in a small-scale recreation General "Step Motors launched the" concept of marketing. Brazil
In Brazil, Dodge cars have had success with the Ram and Dakota models, recently, the only model available was the Ram 2500, but the model portfolio that expands, starting from the crossroads Travel for the 2009 model year.
Canada
In Canada, the alignment of Dodge cars started down the path of elimination, with Plymouth line in 1988, when the Dodge Dynasty was sold in Canada as the Chrysler Dynasty and sold both Plymouth and Dodge. Similarly, the new Dodge Intrepid replacement of the dynasty, was sold as the Chrysler Intrepid.
Alternative propulsion initiatives
The company has long worked on vehicles Alternative Technology, and recently has led the industry with ethanol burning of flexible fuel vehicles that can run on E85 (Ethanol) or gasoline. The company was the first to use turbochargers and was an early proponent of V6 engines in 1960, but soon lost interest in the race muscle car seized.
They proved to vehicles powered by gas turbines kerosene, an area of interest throughout the industry, but abandoned the alternative engine configuration in view of the 1973 oil crisis. In the 1970s and 1980s, GM pushed the benefits of diesel engines and cylinder deactivation technologies with results disastrous because of poor durability of diesel engines driving issues Oldsmobile and Cadillac V8 variable from -6 to 4 cylinder engines. In 1987, GM, in conjunction with AeroVironment, Sunrayce built, who won the first World Solar Challenge and was a showcase of advanced technology. Much Sunrayce technology found its way into the prototype impact of electric vehicle (also built by AeroVironment) and was the predecessor of the General Motors EV1.

Thailand
The American-built Chevrolet Colorado pickup is also manufactured in Rayong, Thailand. The Holden Commodore is named Chevrolet Lumina in Thailand.
General Motors is exploring cost cutting options as part of its restructuring plan. One of these options involve expanding the Rayong, Thailand plant to add additional capacity to export to the U.S. Colorados This would allow the Shreveport, Louisiana plant to close (where the Colorado is also produced). This scenario is plausible only if a free trade agreement signed between the U.S. and Thailand, the import tariff on American trucks TLC from third countries is now 25%. The United Auto Workers union is the most vocal opponent to a change in the tariff structure.

On June 10, 2009, Italian automaker Fiat formed a partnership with Chrysler in which a "New Chrysler" was formed and given the name of Chrysler Group LLC, which remains a Dodge part.
