Chapman Dodge

submit an application to film school - but a backup if the plan is rejected?
Schools: Chapman University Dodge, Pepperdine, USC, UCB, UCSC, and some others in California. GPA - 3.8 EC - half of others - are offered at five major film festivals, ran a short years, took a pair of film / art classes at the local university ratings - is the PSAT, pretty mediocre. did well in English, but so pathetic in mathematics. hypothetically if I'm rejected by all film schools to the instant messaging application, attending college for a year and improve my chances of re-apply? I've heard of people being rejected and then negotiate an agreement with the school that could potentially result in the acceptance. i dont know. u guys can help me here? My plan is to be a filmmaker, regardless of what happens, but given how competitive the industry is, I thought a decent film school, with the creation networking / connections will give me much needed "foot in the door." so, suggestions?
I'm in high school and not planning specialization in film, so it might not be the most knowledgeable person to answer this question, but having grown up in Los Angeles surrounded by people who working in industry, I'll give it a shot. Steven Spielberg was rejected by USC (a building that bears his name, because a lot of money donated) and Scott Rudin, one of the producers most influential, left school at 15. By contrast, my old nanny had her master's degree from USC Film School and is working with us to complete insignificant salary as assistant to a producer while paying $ 900 a month on student loans, and that was like 01. So, get your degree from one of these schools does not guarantee success in the industry. The best thing you can do to put one foot in the door is to intern or work as a PA. Many practices offer studios, and tend to be loyal to their practices after graduation. Show that you are creative, hardworking and ambitious move upward. The most important thing you can have connections in this city. Please enter these schools, you can go to community college and then transfer, despite what I understand even more competitive for transfer admission of freshmen. If you have a reel ideal for display, is likely to increase their chances greatly. Santa Monica Community College is great, and feeds at UCLA and other schools of Los Angeles. Even if you are accepted into film school, probably still could take classes. UCLA has Extension courses entertainment that everyone can take, and the classes are taught by some high profile people. You can also go to the Film Academy in New York and do a short. Look also at Loyola Marymount University. The industry is incredibly difficult, and a lot of people to burn, but if it's something you want to pursue with passion, go for it. Good luck.:)
